What is Reference Organiser [RO]? |
| |
Reference Organiser is a free site where you can manage your reference or books. It arose because I found I needed to keep my CV uptodate and to keep track of the references I need professional. I work in the field of Human Embryology and IVF but Reference Organiser can be used by anyone in any field. |
There are several excellent reference management systems which I am sure many scientists use. I felt that a less complicated, universally available process may provide an alternative option. The site will be funded out of advertising and this means that it is universally available. The key aspects is that regardless of where you are and where you move to in our next job, RO will always be accessible. |
| What can RO provide? |
Reference Organiser allows you to add journal, book, chapter, conference abstracts and any other reference you may need. You can search for references others have entered and create links to those references thereby building a reference library. References in themselves are of little value but they can provide an alternative search environment. |
You can link your own references together to build a CV and can create repeat search requests. But the main reason for creating RO is that you can create publication lists and tag references to the lists. Overtime, it is hoped that RO will be able to redefine the presentation to meet specific publication formats. It will then simple matter of cut and paste to your reference section. |
Shortly you will be able to create user groups to share selected references between members of a section or company, special user groups or other formats. |
| Create a Dynamic CV ? |
Many of the references you may add to Reference Organiser some may be part of your CV. You can link these references to your reference pool and mark it as a CV reference. There are capabilities to create the main section of your CV and then display these CV items along with your references as your CV online. For example you can look at my CV by selecting on the link below.
One advantage of this approach is that you can send a hyperlink to your own CV by any means and at the same time continue to add new items as they arise. This way your CV is always current. Browsers can save it as a pdf file.
